2C Retailing (trading name of PGMA)
2C Retailing is the trading name of PGMA (Scotland) Ltd, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Scottish Grocers Federation.
It became part of SGF in 1977 with the aim of providing a central buying facility for individual members, at preferential terms agreed with major manufacturers and suppliers. In those days as well as providing a direct delivery service from manufacturers we also operated our own distribution depot at Chapelhall near Airdrie.
When Nisa came on stream offering the opportunity of even better buying terms, as a result of increased volumes, we joined their organisation and have enjoyed a strong and fruitful membership ever since. Over the years Nisa has progressed from being purely a buying operation into the full and varied distribution service it is today and we therefore closed our own distribution centre when Nisa’s service was made available in Scotland.
Today, 2C Retailing provides its members with all the benefits to be gained as full, but associate, members of Nisa-Today’s, this giving them the best opportunity to compete in our ever challenging market. Not only do 2C Retailing members gain access to the full Nisa retail delivery system for ambient, chilled and frozen products, they also gain all the other benefits Nisa provide, including promotional planning, P.O.S materials and a wide range of services, and all of these at some of the best pricing available.
2C Retailing is controlled from our Edinburgh office by a small team who work very efficiently to ensure members get the best possible service, which is provided at the lowest cost available for full access to the Nisa retail system.
All invoices issued for a member by either Nisa, manufacturer or other suppliers are processed through 2C Retailing where they are summarised and a statement issued on a weekly basis, with payment being made to 2C Retailing by Direct-Debit from the member’s bank account, seven days after the statement is raised.
Membership of 2C Retailing offers all the benefits of group trading without interference with the individuality or independence of the retailer, but with our 2C fascia they can also be recognised as part of a group.
2C Retailing, through its membership of NISA, and direct arrangements with manufacturers and suppliers offers superb buying, to the full spectrum of independent retailers in all locations.
Added to that is the opportunity to use our 2C fascia linking these outlets to the correct trading standards.
Amongst other benefits for 2C Retailing members is access to employment advice, legal advice and the benefit of political lobbying at Scottish government level all this through membership of SGF.
